Decorating Trends 2012 What's Hot?
Decorating Trends 2012 What are the hot trends for 2012? Cow hides, wallpaper, dark lacquered walls, dressed-up lampshades, iridescent mosaic glass tiles and more!

Wallpaper is Back and Ceilings Don't Want to be Ignored Let your imagination go with the possibilities of surrounding yourself with beautiful printed walls. This charming bathroom works because the color palette is limited to black and white. The small size of the room and the white chair rail keep it from getting too crazy. From
House Beautiful.

Bold Painted Ceilings Turquoise is still hot in 2012 and looks fabulous on the ceiling! Toning it down with a softer shade on the walls, lots of white cabinets, and natural woods makes this kitchen young, fresh and inviting.
Gray is the New Neutral Like beige, gray can have many undertones which will be magnified on your walls.

Blue Gray If you like a gray with blue undertones, Benjamin Moore Bunny Gray is a nice choice.

Green Gray If you like a gray that leans more toward green, you might like Sherwin Williams Comfort Gray.

Neutral Gray One of my favorites is Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter. It has some beige undertones which makes it very neutral. This gray will get along with any other color.

"Greige" "Greige" is a gray with beige or tan tones. This is Benjamin Moore Eagle Rock and it would be dramatic in a library or a powder room.

Charcoal Gray Walls Dark gray looks fabulous on walls. To keep it from being gloomy, add lots of white in art and trim, mirrors for sparkle, and keep your fabrics light and soft. This beautiful room is from Mary Carol Garrity at
Nell Hill's.
Bling is Out and Shimmer is IN! Metallics and iridescent mosaic glass tile are the most exciting thing to come along in a long time and
Alys Edwards
does it beautifully! The creator of Alys Edwards was a custom tile designer who became frustrated with the challenges and cost of delivering custom intact and on time. Her solution was Gigi's Groovy Glass. Custom looking tile, in stock, and at a fraction of the cost. As a bonus, each name makes you smile!

Lampshades are Taking on More Personality The trend is toward more color and pattern in lampshades. What a fun time to be decorating!

Cow Hide Rugs! Whether you love them or not, you're going to see a lot of them. Both in natural cow hide and zebra stripe. Use them directly on the floor or layer over a sisal rug. This look is big!

Dark Lacquered Walls Black, indigo, charcoal, or brown, and lacquered to a high sheen to reflect light. This look works best if you break it up with bookshelves, art, and mirrors to keep it both dramatic and soothing. The reflective ceiling makes this dining room from
Architectural Digest
sing.
